On our way

We have started our holiday – we are now in Sydney at a brand new hotel on Darling Harbour which I booked on the internet. It’s fairly basic and they charge for Internet access, but it is less than 5 minutes walk to the terminal from which the cruise will leave tomorrow.

We went for a walk to look around and had a very pleasant and cheap meal at a bistro round the corner. Then we walked down to the waterfront. Very pleasant, lots of alfresco bars and restaurants, mostly pricey, but mostly quite well patronised, especially for a Tuesday night. The advantages of a large population – Fremantle can’t match the ambience.

Tomorrow morning I plan to visit the Yinka Shonibare exhibition at the Museum of Contemporary Art. Kevin is going to the Maritime Museum. We should both have a good time.

This time tomorrow night we will be at sea.
